Moving Spirit Behind School

Dr.L.P.Lal Memorial Public School is a realisation of a visionary, Dr.Lakh Pati Lal , a noted educationist whose experience of almost 4 decades with one of the leading PG college in India (DCSK PG College, Mau) had vested in him dynamism which was as extraordinary as revolutionary. A relentless quest for excellence, an insatiable thirst for knowledge and limitless craving for the latest were the hallmarks of this noted educationist.

Dr.Lakhpati Lal was born and bought up in a remote village far away from main road connecting city of Mau Nath Bhanjan and Ghazipur. Son of a poor peasant Dr.Lal lost his father in his early childhood. After his father's death Dr.Lal's mother was left with the responsibility of Dr.Lal and his 7 elder siblings. She did household chores at local villagers house for upbringing of 8 children. Dr.Lal was the youngest and the only child who was educated.

Dr.Lal used to travel 10kms daily on foot to Bhudkuda Inter College to complete his primary education. He did his Graduation and Post Graduation in English Literature from Benaras Hindu University,Benaras. He went to complete his Doctorate in English Literature from Gorakhpur University. His doctorate thesis was on "A Sociological study of RK Narayan's Novel".

After completing his Post Graduation Dr.Lal was offered lectureship at BHU itself which he declined due to attachment with his native place and the crisis of good English faculties he felt during his childhood and took up lecturer's job at National Degree College,Badhalganj. Shri Banarsilal Khandelwal set up DCSK College in Mau in 1964 under Gorakhpur University. Its first principal Mr.Gupta invited Dr.LakhPati Lal to be a part in the foundation stone of DCSK. Salary was comparatively less but Dr.Lal gladly accepted due to proximity with his native place.

He served as the Vice-Principal of DCSK and later on became the principal. It was under his principal ship that DCSK became Post Graduate college from just a degree college in 1979 under Vir Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University. It was the first college in the region that had the government's permission to offer PG degree in English. All due to the consistent efforts of Dr.Lal.

Dr.Lal served as the member of Gorakhpur Universities Board of Studies. He played a major role in establishment of Vir Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University. He rejected the offer of being Vice Chancellor and other big assignments of reputed institutions due to love of his native village.

His dream was to open a school for underprivileged village boys and girls after his retirement where he would teach them English for the rest of his life. Unfortunately he left the mortal world in 1993 due to heart attack.
